School

Leverett is a member of both Union 28 and the Amherst/Pelham Region. Union 28 is a partnership of four elementary schools which was created so that we can share administrative services in a cost-effective and efficient manner. 

Leverett Elementary School, Erving Elementary School, Shutesbury Elementary School and Swift River School (which serves the towns of Wendell and New Salem) share a superintendent, a director of special education and a business office. There is a Union 28 School Committee comprised of school committee members from each of the four elementary schools. Leverett generally sends three School Committee members to the periodic Union 28 School Committee meetings.

The four schools in Union 28 feed into different secondary schools. Leverett and Shutesbury send their elementary school graduates to the Amherst/Pelham Regional Middle and High Schools.

School Committee meetings are held at 6:00pm on the first Monday of the month (except for July and August) in the school library and are open to everyone who wants to attend.
