1. Oversight of Historical Assets

   • North Leverett Sawmill - North Leverett Sawmill - rehabilitation plans review

     General Discussion...
     Members of the Friends of North Leverett Sawmill presented the plans for the main floor of the mill, including the cutting of the saw carriage to accommodate entry area and accessibility. The plan is to move the saw apparatus more to the middle of the building and to cut both the east and west ends of the carriage. The eastern (Cave Hill Road) side will have the entrance area where fees would be collected and the western end act as an exit.
     
     FONLS members described possible ideas for the cut sections, including hanging the cut carriage sections above the floor from the rafters and inlaying a track flush with the floor to represent where the carriage had once been. Bob pointed out that the carriage was pieced together and not one continuous piece of wood.
     
     Various questions relative to the plans and historic preservation/adaptive reuse were asked and answered. Discussion to be continued at the December LHC meeting.
