  • Highway Laborer/Equipment Operator: 

The Town of Leverett Highway Department wishes to hire a permanent full-time, benefitted laborer and truck driver.  Must have valid Class B CDL license with air brake endorsement and a 2B hoisting license (or ability to get hoisting license within 6 months), and a clean driving record.  Performs manual labor, plows snow, operates and maintains equipment for the maintenance and construction of town roads and properties.  Pay $15.00 to $16.00 per hour.  Applicant must also pass a town-provided physical and drug test prior to hiring and agree to random drug tests during employment.  Job description and Employment Application are available by calling Highway Superintendent, Will Stratford, at 413-548-9400 or Town Hall, at 413-548-9150.  Applications are due to the Highway Superintendent, 95 Montague Road, Leverett, MA  01054 by 8:00AM June 25, 2012.   • Call Firefighters:

The Town of Leverett is constantly in need of interested people to become part of the town's call fire department. Duties include response to fires, medical and other emergency events. Training is provided by the town and includes CPR and First Responder training. Qualifications include a valid driver's license and residence within 10 miles of the Public Safety Complex. Hours are variable depending on the timing and nature of emergency calls. Average approximately 3 hours per week. Attendance at frequent Thursday night trainings is required. Pay hourly (currently $16.13) for call and training time.

  • Part Time Police Officers:

The Town of Leverett is hiring part-time Police Officers. Duties to include patrols, emergency and non-emergency responce, participation in training programs and related paperwork. Qualifications include part-time MMPTC Basic Academy certification, valid driver's license, residence within 15 miles of the Public Safety Complex, high school diploma, some police experience (not including academy training). Pay is hourly (currently $16.13). A job description is available at the Selectboard's Office (413-548-9150) or at the Police Chief's Office (413-548-4994).   • Transfer Station Attendant:

The Transfer Station is hiring a part-time Transfer Station Attendant.  Duties to include, but are not limited to, working at the Station, organizing trash and recyclables, and resident education.  Approximately 4 hours per week on weekends.  Pay is $13.35 per hour.  An application is available in the Town Hall or by calling the Administrator’s office at 413-548-9699.  Applications due by November 18, 2010.
